"If Antarctica were music it would be Mozart.
Art, and it would be Michalangelo. Literature, and it would be Shakespeare.
And yet it is something even greater; the only place on Earth that is still as it should be.
May we never tame it."
The White Continent captured my heart when I first sailed there aboard the three-masted Bark Europa in 2014. I have since worked on many voyages to Antarctica, the remote sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia, and the Falkland Islands. In addition to my work as an Assistant Expedition Leader and sea kayak guide, I have also helped support conservation and research efforts in this region conducted by organizations including Oceanities and the South Georgia Heritage Trust. In 2016 I sailed south of the Antarctic Circle for the first time in my life. Stunning scenery, extraordinarily vast landscapes, and incredible wildlife encounters- from charming penguins to fierce leopard seals- define these wild places at the ends of the Earth.
